Angus the Irritable Bull is a light-hearted story of life on a farm. With hand-crafted artwork by award winning Illustrator Daron Parton and rich interaction and sound, it is sure to delight younger readers. Angus offers a distinctivestyle of imagery and high quality narration with a gentle moral storyline and a little twist in the tail.
Angus is extemely grumpy and no-one want’s to be his friend, not the Farmer, the Dog or the Cows in the field… He’s pretty “unapproach-a-bull.” That is until one day a cheaky little bird lands on his back…
Angus has recieved much critical praise, recently winning a “Best Pick Award” from TechwithKids.com, was a finalist in the 2014 “Cybils Bloggers’ Literary Awards,” and received a Merit award in the “2014 3×3 International Illustration Awards.”
Behind the Book
Dean Proudfoot worked for the past 20 years as a commercial illustrator in one of Australia’s largest Illustration and Animation agencies, Watermarkltd.com. As a group, a long held yearning existed to produce products that shared in-house stories and skills with the general public in addition to working with clients on commissioned projects. “We had all the integral parts to make a digital experience, we just needed a push to make it happen,” said Dean.
So Dean Proudfoot became an author and took to writing. Dean and the team wanted to produce a book app and see if it could hold its own among the offerings out there on the App Store. Angus is their first project and the team is very proud of the results. Angus the Irritable Bull was featured by Apple on the iTunes home page in July 2014, which became a great confirmation that the team is on the right track.
Written, illustrated and animated in-house, Angus has given the team confidence to launch an app publishing offshoot—Crayontology. Alligator in an Anorak is planned to launch in late 2015—built on what the team learned from Angus.
Why Kids Love the Book
It’s just fun… although it’s a beautifully built product with great imagery, sound, narration and a sweet story, it doesn’t take itself too seriously. There’s plenty to giggle about and interact with—kids just fall in love with Angus.
Can you keep a secret? Great! Crayontology has a massive update coming soon for Angus. It will include multiple unlockable content for kids to discover plus a rich and entertaining music game. Watch for it!
